Christian beliefs have helped Susan Boyle overcome a tumultuous year.

The singer, discovered through television show Britain's Got Talent in 2009, told the Daily Mirror she is happier than ever after a stressful time on her rise to fame.

She thanked fans for the vast number of cards, presents and messages she has received, adding that she has reread each one a number of times. "Speaking about her faith, Boyle said: Christmas is a joyous time and this year I'll be with my family and close friends and attending midnight mass to remember the true meaning."

And she added that she will be enjoying the "quiet time for reflection" after her I Dreamed A Dream album became the fastest-selling debut by a woman, shifting 1.4 million copies in four weeks in the UK.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Boyle is being tipped to sing the theme song for the next James Bond film.
