Psalm 139:13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
The way that we see ourselves can affect whether we succeed in life, take a look in the mirror for a second; how do you feel about yourself? Have you let other people influence your self-image or is your self-image shaped by the bible and what the scriptures say about you. If you have a poor self-image and are constantly putting yourself down, it’s bound to manifest itself in the things that you do and say.
People tend to judge themselves by the things that they’ve accomplished, the world will say that you’re an achiever if you’re wealthy, have a good background, well spoken, good looking and educated. God doesn’t see it that way at all !! When he looks at us, he sees us through his son, washed clean, pure, spotless and blameless (Eph 1:4), praise God he doesn’t judge me according to my accomplishments, we are saved by Grace !!
He sees us as a new creation, the old has passed and the new has come (2 Cor 5:17), infact if you’ve asked for forgiveness from that past sin, the bible tells us that God wipes it from his memory, he doesn’t even remember it! So why should you!
It’s time to shake off what other people have labelled you as, shake off hurtful and vindictive words that you’re letting affect your future. These horrible thoughts have taken up too much of your time already, stop thinking about the way that person hurt, embarrassed or insulted you.
Start by forgiving that person, forgiving yourself and replacing those thoughts with scriptures that make mention of the love God has for you, like the one quoted for today. Once you realise how much you are loved and treasured by the King of the Universe, it doesn’t matter what the world says or thinks about you, all of that fades into the background and you start to see yourself the way that God wants you too.
Can you imagine that every day of your life has been written about, you are so important that you already have an autobiography written about you! God isn’t interested in your past,it’s your future he wants,
isn’t it amazing that you’re on a journey that’s never been written before!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for the unconditional love that you have showered and continue to shower on me. Help me to never forget that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, may I never let the past and what others have said or spoken about or to me influence or distort what I think about myself and what you have in store for me, in Jesus name, amen. |
