Christian groups could be quizzing politicians before election

Politicians are being called upon to face Christians in a series of meetings to clarify their stances on religious and moral issues, it has been reported.

The meetings are to be chaired by Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali, a known traditionalist in the Church of England who believes that Christian values are being eroded in place of radical Islam.

Topics that are likely to be addresses in the meetings include marriage, abortion and assisted suicide.

Some of the politicians that have been called upon to take part are the Conservative party leader David Cameron and the mastermind behind Labour's Equality Bill, Harriet Harman.

Mr Nazir-Ali said that the run up to the general election was the ideal time for these issues to be discussed.

"Christians are being marginalised in the market place commercially and from serving in public office," he added.

"These events will give Christians an opportunity to make their voice known."

An increasing number of church organisations have spoken out recently against areas of the new Equality Bill, with many claiming that it is further proof of the marginalisation of Christianity within society.
