The Church of England continues to embrace the use of technology to spread its Christian message, it has been announced.

Marking the beginning of Lent, the church has created a website - SayOneForMe.org for individuals to submit prayers which will in turn be offered to God by bishops.

The Rt Rev David Walker, Bishop of Dudley, is in favour of the new scheme, saying that prayer was an important outlet for people during "difficult times".

"Our visits today and the new website are both simple ways for us to harness that desire and engage with people where they are.

"Of course, nobody needs a dog collar to be heard by God, but for many people, knowing that someone else is praying for us gives us the confidence to make our own prayers, and prayer is often the gateway to hope."

Earlier this year, the Pope encouraged clergy to use all means of technology at their disposal, such as blogs or videos, to spread the word of God.
